Long day yesterday. I went to the polls in all 6 towns. I don’t do it to get votes. I did not have an opponent yesterday. I think it is important to go to every town in the district to show that I haven’t forgotten them. This effort takes a team too. My son Conlin was a huge help. He stayed in Goshen most of the day. Even more importantly, I always clean up the signs we put at the polling places after they close. Conlin drove out to Goshen, Lempster, and Washington to pick up. That really took a load off of me. My son Luis took over for Conlin in Goshen so that he could come home to vote. My wife Adele and son Gawain covered Charlestown, and then Langdon when she got of work. Big thanks to Sue Lichty for staying in Langdon for both Jim Grenier and I.
Thank you to all who voted
Please Vote on September 9

NFIB endorses Representative Steven Smith
I found out yesterday that I have again been endorsed by the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business). The NFIB was founded in 1943 to be a voice for small businesses, and a resource to provide them with information on how laws affect them. This is NOT an advocacy group for big business. They are a group dedicated to helping businesses like the ones we have right here in District 11. 60% of NFIB members have 5 or fewer employees. 55% of NFIB members report gross sales of $350,000 or less. They are not controlled by outside groups or big money PACs. Each NFIB member gets ONE vote. I first learned about the NFIB a few years ago when I walked into Fall Mountain Small Engine to campaign. Before Tom said anything, he pulled out this booklet, and said “the NFIB says you’re ok”. I’d never heard of them. In travelling the district and asking these small businesses about it, I was surprised at how many of them were members.
I’m proud that I have again earned their endorsement, based on my voting record, and my support for the small businesses of Sullivan County District 11.
