Social Media is not the Answer

I have heard some folks who are really unhappy with the current restrictions asking people to post in forums and groups, and on their pages. Sure, do that. But, if you want to have an impact, you need to be heard by the people making the decisions. These days, it is easier than ever to attend public meetings (since you can just call in). If they don’t hear from you, they will assume that everything is just fine. So, if you disagree, attend a meeting or take a minute to send an email. Misleading Headline to Follow

The first article says that restaurant can open to 100% capacity. This is not true. The new rules do lift the capacity restriction, but tables have to be 6 feet apart. Establishments with tighter layouts will not be able to seat people at every table. I’m still waiting for a clarification on booths. Stay tuned ~ Steve

NH DHHS COVID-19 Update – August 23rd, 2020

On Sunday, August 23, 2020, DHHS announced 15 new positive test results for COVID-19. There have now been 7,107 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in New Hampshire. Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates. Of those with complete information, all are adults with 40% being female and 60% being male. The new cases reside in Cheshire (4), Merrimack (2), Rockingham (2), and Strafford (1) counties. The county of residence is being determined for six new cases.

Hospitalizations

Two new hospitalized cases were identified for a total of 711 (10%) of 7,107 cases.

Community Based Transmission

Three of the new cases had no identified risk factors.

Deaths

No additional deaths reported by DHHS.

New Coronavirus Cases Below 50,000 in the U.S. for Sixth Straight Day

“The U.S. reported fewer than 50,000 new coronavirus cases for the sixth day in a row, as some states and universities took further steps to try to control the pandemic.

Total coronavirus cases in the U.S. are at more than 5.5 million, accounting for just under a quarter of the global tally, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The nation’s death toll rose to more than 174,000.

While the U.S. has the most reported coronavirus deaths in the world, it ranks 11th globally in terms of mortality rate, with about 53 deaths per 100,000 people, according to data from Johns Hopkins. That figure is up from around 39 deaths per 100,000 in early July.” More at Wall Street Journal

On Thursday, August 20, 2020, DHHS announced 14 new positive test results for COVID-19. There have now been 7,050 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in New Hampshire. Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates. Of those with complete information, there are two individuals under the age of 18 and the rest are adults, with 43% being female and 57% being male. The new cases reside in Rockingham (4), Merrimack (3), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (2), Cheshire (1), and Strafford (1) counties, and in the city of Manchester (1). The county of residence is being determined for two new cases.
