While everyone is focused on “to Trump or not to Trump”, let me offer an endorsement that is more important. While Charlestown is part of my Legislative District, I am also a Charlestown citizen. That means that my Representative is Tom Laware. Rep. Laware‘s courtesy and integrity are above approach, and we can all be proud to be represented by Tom in the NH House of Representatives. In his two terms, he has earned the respect of members of both parties… which makes him a very effective Legislator. Rep. Laware has served on the County Executive Finance Committee and kept your county taxes from increasing. He has fought to support local public transportation, successfully. Tom cares so much about doing what is right for Charlestown, that I have had him call me two weeks after a vote to ask a question about local impact, while there was still time to amend the bill before it cleared the Senate. He never stops thinking about his responsibility, and your best interests. I hope that you join me in voting for Rep. Tom Laware for another term in the NH House.

No One Should Be Hungry
As we go into the holiday season, it is important to remember that while we are worrying about having enough money for gifts, some worry about having money for dinner. Please, support your local food shelf, pantry, or whatever group of people serves your community. This Sunday, the Fall Mountain Food Shelf will hold its annual Harvest Walk. If you can only spare a dollar, please help support this cause. Every little bit really does help. If you can’t spare anything, or perhaps need their help yourself, please consider joining us for the Walk just to show support this Sunday at 2PM, at the Charlestown Congregational Church on Main St.

Fighting Homelessness, Helping Veterans
I was surprised and honored last year when Governor Hassan chose me to represent the Legislature on the Governor’s Interagency Council on Homelessness. This is a very worthwhile group. They have examined everything from the cliff effect (when you earn more and then lose your benefits, actually going backward) to coordinating resources to help veterans. No veteran should be homeless, and we can not possibly, ever, do enough for them.
