NH State Representative Steven Smith

I tried to come up with something eloquent, befitting the day on which we honor our veterans.  The truth is that there are no words sufficient to honor those who pledge, and risk, their lives to protect our freedom.  Their families live with the doubt and fear of the danger they face, wondering if their loved ones will come home.  Our veterans make everything we do possible.  So, let me simply say, thank you.  We owe our veterans a debt that cannot be repaid.

Here we go.  It is Election Eve.  The signs are out, the letters written, the radio addresses done.  Tomorrow our phones finally stop ringing at the end of the day.  New Hampshire gets hammered with this stuff so much because the NH people are election experts.  Every four years, the nation looks to us to vet the Presidential candidates in our Primary.  New Hampshire is known for having a higher percentage of people who actually pay attention than the other states.  I am hopeful that people will ignore the distractions of the lunatics, the attack ads, the robocalls, and everything else that obscures the truth.  The truth is that in 2010, NH voters chose a different path and pulled the state back from the brink of financial ruin.  We were sent to Concord to run government more efficiently, end questionable borrowing and accounting practices, and create an honest budget that you, the people, can afford.  We did that.  Send me back to Concord and I will continue to be a good steward of your tax money.  I will fight to keep the interests from the east side of the state from overshadowing our needs.  I will continue to be a loud voice for these small towns of Sullivan County.  I will continue to always answer your questions, return your calls, reply to your emails.  I hope that I’ve earned your trust, and I once again ask for your vote.  I’m Steven Smith and I hope that you approve of this message.

If you want to meet the people in these towns, the one place they all have to go is the Transfer Station. Last weekend I was at the Charlestown and Washington Transfer Stations. I love the “Washington Mall”. This weekend, I went to Acworth and Charlestown on Saturday and Goshen and Lempster on Sunday. Our 8 year old fell in love with Goshen’s giant sand pile. He asked when we could go back. It was great getting out int he communities, and I’ll see you on Tuesday.
