Politics aside…
Next week, you will go to the polling places, cast your votes, and it will all be over for a couple of years. Don’t wait for President Obama, or President Romney to fix our economy. Government’s only assured role is that they can make it harder or easier to create jobs. The actual power ultimately lies with you. Please look for goods made here in America when you shop. You can find socks, toothpaste, and other items that you buy periodically that don’t cost much, and are made by American workers. Just think, if you can make 50 cents making a pair of socks, and next week 50 million Americans go out and buy a pair, that is 25 million dollars pumped back into American companies. The uptick in demand may create some overtime for our neighbors just in time for Christmas. If you do it again the next time you buy, the companies will react to the increased demand by hiring more workers. You really can make a difference. We just have to take a minute to read some labels. I’ve heard people say that they can’t afford to buy American, so they have to buy the Chinese goods. I disagree. Everyone can make one small step. Don’t do it all, but do what you can. Remember this famous quote – “I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything; but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” Please don’t refuse. The next time you are at the store, go out of your way to find something to buy that was made in the USA, and put an American back to work.
