Congratulations Langdon

Congratulations to Langdon for getting their Meetinghouse on the New Hampshire Register of Historic Places.  I would like to thank the people of Langdon for including me in this historic event.  The Langdon Meetinghouse holds a record in the Untied States in that it has hosted 209 consecutive town meetings.  It is awe inspiring to walk into a room where the people have been meeting for over 200 years.  The real special part, for me, is the unrestored upstairs.  It is now, literally, as it was left in the 1800’s.  You can still see the scorch marks on the wall from the organist’s candle sconce, and the original floor covering is still there.  It is like stepping back in time, a feeling that you don’t get in a restored, museum like setting.  This is real.  The dedication and commitment of all the people of Langdon who have taken on this undertaking are to be commended.  Thanks to them, future generations will be able to experience this monument to classic NH history.
